Now that restrictions are being lifted, we want to discuss the effects of the pandemic and look at what the future holds for our industry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>A Growing Economy with the Rise in Export Business<\/h2>\n<p>Manufacturers have reached a record increase in new business as both domestic and overseas demand continues to revive. Businesses reacted to Covid restrictions and vaccination timetables by using the information to inform decisions of growth, tapping into different economies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-34281\" src=\"https:\/\/optimistic-solomon.194-164-31-150.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/iStock-1287156325-1024x534.jpg\" alt=\"Growth in 2021\" width=\"640\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/optimistic-solomon.194-164-31-150.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/iStock-1287156325-1024x534.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/optimistic-solomon.194-164-31-150.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/iStock-1287156325-300x156.jpg 300w, https:\/\/optimistic-solomon.194-164-31-150.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/iStock-1287156325-768x400.jpg 768w, https:\/\/optimistic-solomon.194-164-31-150.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/iStock-1287156325.jpg 1418w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ihsmarkit.com\/index.html\">IHS Markit<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cips.org\/employers\/insights\/pmi\/\">CIPS Purchasing Managers Index<\/a> (PMI) rose from 60.9 in April to 65.4 in May, the highest in the survey&#8217;s three-decade history, and economists suggest that the PMI surveys are a benchmark for future growth.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.makeuk.org\/\">MAKE UK<\/a> have also updated their growth forecast for manufacturing from 3.9 per cent to 7.8 per cent, above its forecast for GDP of 7.5 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>High-level Output Volumes<\/h2>\n<p>Throughout the course of the pandemic, manufacturers had to work under pressure to produce high-quality items in larger volumes. By shifting to a more digitally-led approach, we believe that you can improve your global reach and build your business for the future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Inflation on Materials and Job Surges<\/h2>\n<p>IHS Markit announced that businesses are reporting supply problems due to the rising demand for products, causing a rapid rise in the cost of materials. Freight costs have also increased after the UK left the EU in January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, manufacturers have experienced shortages of electronics, plastics and metals. Severe delivery delays have also been prominent throughout Covid-19.
