For those who haven\u2019t seen the film, a scene where astronauts are seen watching and reading from a flat screen tablet is eerily familiar in today\u2019s world. However, it wasn\u2019t until April 2010 that the first iPad was released, indicating that the minds behind the movie marvel were one step ahead of the technology game.<\/p>\n<p>It is truly remarkable how accurately the film displayed this concept, with the design being almost identical to the invention we know today. Metropolis was years ahead of its time when it came to futuristic concepts, and with the technology we know and love today, it is clear to see why. This film makes a hugely accurate technology prediction through the introduction of androids.<\/p>\n<p>For years we have heard about the idea and evolution of androids and robots, however, in 1927 it seemed a completely unheard-of idea. The film features a mad scientist who turns a robot into a doppelganger of another character. It may not fully look like the robots we know today, but it was certainly years ahead of its time, predicting how robots could potentially exist one day. We are talking about software such as Skype and FaceTime that allows users to contact anyone from anywhere around the world at any time through the medium of live video phone calls.<\/p>\n<p>There are two films which feature this futuristic technology years before it\u2019s time: Aliens and Blade Runner. Both the 1980\u2019s films feature video calling scenes which as we are well aware, were not to be invented for years to come. This is another example of how Sci-Fi films accurately predicted future technology.<\/p>\n<p>Although the video calling used within the films isn\u2019t as revolutionised as the ones we know today, it is still astonishing to consider how limited technological resources were only 30 years ago. Back to the Future II featured some brilliant technology predictions, the most obvious being the flying car (which is not an invention that has surfaced\u2026yet!) and the hoverboard that was invented in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The film also includes \u2018smart eyewear\u2019 which spookily resembles the virtual reality devices we know of today. This is similar to the Siri technology that is used in Apple operating systems today.
